Morocco is a must see destination, full of varied culture and ancient history, and we really scored having such an amenable and intelligent guide/driver to care for us along our way. We started our travels in Marrakesh, traveled north to Casablanca and Rabat, then to Chefchaouen, the blue city. In each location we stayed Ismael met us when needed, helped with our bags, gave directions, but what was the most wondrous for me was that he let me find my own way when I desired, within the comfort and security of his watchful eye.
After we left Chefchaouen we saw Volubilis and continued on to Merzouga and the desert dunes. The camel ride was so fun getting to our tent in the desert, with the sun setting behind us the photo op was tremendous, with orange dunes and camel-ride shadows, just amazing After the desert dunes, driven safely by Ismael in a way I am still in awe of, we made our way to Amazigh (Berber) country, where Ismael was born and raised. Suffice it to say that our trip in Morocco was more than could be desired, we visited everything on the plan, and we were able to insert our own desires as each day ensued. We saw so many things off the beaten track, things that exist right next to the normal tourist track. We finished our trip back in Marrakesh and made our flight without a fuss, Ismael safely driving and avoiding any slowdowns we might have encountered.
I highly recommend Ismael. He’s an intelligent, educated man with a sensitivity towards his wayfarers that, in my somewhat extensive experience traveling the globe, is not often seen.
